Where do you go to get your naturally curly, kinky, and coarse hair straightened in (downtown) Columbia? You go to Tanta B. Salon in the Vista (619 Lady Street, Columbia, SC). Tanta is one of new crop of salons, catering to African-American women, opening in the Vista. She specializes in (straightening by flat iron) hair for women who are “natural”, women who don’t want to use the traditional chemical relaxers to straighten their hair. Some would call it “selling out” to go against the natural grain of your hair texture by doing this. I call it another styling option for those not into locs, braids, twists or afros for themselves (but she will have a stylist in her salon that can do those styles). (Side note – I haven’t flat-ironed my hair – yet, but am thinking about it.)

Also, if you are a fan of the product line “Carol’s Daughter”, the salon will start carrying these products the latter part of January.
At any rate it’s nice to see a little (salon) diversity in the Vista area. She is offering a 40% off for first visit. Contact Tanta for more details at 803-451-1115
Don’t forget to tell Tanta Eb sent you.

Proud of you Tanta <3
