How to Make Over Your Beach Vacation

“Love the beach? What is your beach style? One of South Carolina’s most popular beach areas is packed full with restaurants, mini-golf, shops and anything else you can imagine.  Is that your style?  South Carolina has so much more to offer than the “Grand Strand”. Don’t get me wrong, Myrtle Beach is great.  I have very fond memories of summer vacations spent there.  I still long to visit from time to time.  I have found though that other South Carolina beaches offer laid back, natural, untouched beauty just waiting to be discovered.  This year we’re trying something new and visiting Edisto Island.”

13 Outfits With One Skirt

6 Ways to wear a a-line skirt

Kaela, a PR executive, needed some style options for her chevron print a-line skirt she wants to wear to work this Summer. I gave her about seven ways to wear this skirt, and we only used 3 main colors.

Teal top a-line skirt
The teal sleeveless blouse gives a different look and feel when worn with the traditional navy blazer versus the collar-less white jacket. However, the sleeveless blouse looks great alone, especially with the faux gem embellishments around the neckline. If she didn’t want to wear a jacket, she could always wear a cardigan in either navy, white or teal. I’m counting about 3 outfits here and when you add the three different cardigans = 6!

However, for more corporate settings, I suggested she wear a simple white tank under her tailored white canvas jacket. I’m counting five outfits here! Running total is 11!

I actually prefer the white jacket with anything because the cut of it frames her figure so well. What do ya’ll think?

But of course, Kaela is a fan of the oxford shirt, so we tried the skirt with the belt and  a teal oxford. I can see about 2 outfits from this look alone. New total of 13!

Which is your fave look? How would you wear your chevron print a-line skirt?

Kaela purchased her skirt from Lane Bryant, but I suggested we try on tops, jackets and shoes at JCPenney. I liked the sales and options JC Penney offers.

Kaela was gracious to let me know what she thought of our style session.

Makeover: Playing With Jewel-toned Colors

shanika jewel-toned colors

Have fun playing in colors this season. Jewel-toned colors such as greens, blues and purples are great for a summer fresh look.

Left: I used the Mary Kay at Play Ocean View Trio (blue/green) and Stila Glance (purple).

Right;  I used MAC’s Lucky Green and Stila Onyx.

Remember to define those brows!

Suits & Stilettos Makeover Project (March)

In an effort to empower women who are in need, I collaborated with the stylists at Pynk Signature Salon located in Columbia, SC, to provide free makeovers, resume-writing tips and interview advice for women who are getting back on their feet. It was a labor of love. We asked people to donate clothes that women could wear on a job interview to re-enter the workforce.

The support was very overwhelming. Laura Freeman, Salon Manager at Pynk, worked with the local Women’s Shelter to invite a four women for the makeover day on March 24, 2014. Here are the before and after photos from that makeover session.

In addition to the image makeovers, the women were provided with a resume review and interview advice from myself, Ladilvia Lee (author and inspirational speaker of Discovered Angel), and Stephanie Gives (founder of the Tiffani Nina Simone Foundation).

The Pynk Signature Salon, led by Jessica Reese provide hair styling services for women in the Columbia and surrounding areas. They are located at 3928 Rosewood Dr, Columbia, SC 29205. I am excited to have the Pynk team as part of the MMOE Glam squad for my makeover clients.

When you stop in to see them, tell them Eb sent you.
