What to Pack in Your Hospital Overnight Bag

Original post: May 2013.

I recently had a hysterectomy to remove a fibroid tumor I’ve been ‘loaded’ down with over the past decade. Since I knew I was going to be in the hospital for more than a day, I needed to pack some essentials in my hospital overnight bag. I packed items that made feel comfortable (and look good) while I started my healing. I decided to make it the discussion of my latest video blog.

The 1154 Lill Studio custom Christie bag has been THE travel bag for my toiletries. I’ve had it for about five years and it’s washable!

My husband was a good sport and snapped this pic of me when I checked out of the hospital. The Ann Taylor Loft black maxi dress was perfect for comfort and cuteness. I also decided to wear my Moving Comfort sports bra. I purchased the bra at Fleet Feet, a store for runners’ gear, for my workouts. However, it’s perfect for times like these. The bra has no underwire and was perfect to let the ‘girls’ feel ‘free’ while still holding my stuff together.

In hospital after my hysterectomy

I appreciate the careful care of my doctors and staff at the hospital where I stayed. They were great!

*Did you know?*
Fibroid tumors are common in women, and 3 to 5 times more common in African-American women. (Read more here.) If you suspect that you have this issue due to inconsistent menstruation periods, huge growths in your abdominal area, or pain, please talk to your doctor to see what you can do for the betterment of you health.

That is all. Good health to you.
